Salsa dancing
Me gusto mucho a bailar. Esté baila es sensual. Pero, es romántico también.
The dancing in Spanish cultures is very different from those of America. I chose this video of dancing because it is very pleasing to me. Most of the time that I've seen these dances they are wearing dresses. I love the way the dresses flare out when they spin. I appreciate the ability it takes to do these dances. The moves are simple sometimes, and other times are more complex.
The difference between the dances in America and Spanish cultures are vastly different. At the same time, though, they are also alike in certain aspects. In America they are just trying to arouse the other dance partner, I think. In Spanish dances, to me, it seems as if they are almost telling a story with their bodies. It's so much more than just a dance. Their body language talks. The American dances have changed dramatically as well. The older dances are somewhat like the Spanish ones. They court their partner. However, the newer dances are just excuses to press one's body against the other person's. There's nothing romantic or in-depth about it.

Spanish Clothing

Matador Costume |
I love the clothes of the spanish community. The men don't walk around in matador clothes, they wear them while they are fighting the bulls. I was simply interested in the design and colors of them. The female dress is usually long and large around the skirt portion. They flow. They are very colorful, mostly portrayed in reds. This is usually not the everyday clothing, however. Most Spanish communities dress in everyday clothes that you would see in America. During their festivities (which are quite often) they dress in clothes such as these.
The difference in the clothing in America's festivities are very different. In Spanish communities they wear mostly long dresses or skirts and tuxedos. In America the dresses are short and tight to enunciate the woman's bodies to show off more. They like to wear flowers and other hair pins in their hair. I am absolutely fascinated with the way Spanish people dress.

Mientes - You Lie
Mientes - Enrique Iglesias
Aquí es un vídeo de Enrique Iglesias. Este es una canción con el nombre de Miente. Mientes es You Lie en ingles. Me gusto este canción porque ayuda yo con el español.
I chose this video because I can use my knowledge I already have to understand some of it. But i have noticed what I have learned already in spanish has helped me translate words that I didn't understand before. Also, music has always been a way to help me aprender. Music has siempre been important and personal to me. Music is a good way for anyone to learn because it has been proven that people learn better with music. Music is used widely in los Estados Unidos enseñar los estudiantes.
I have been to only one concert in my life and it was of Enrique Iglesias. When I listened to the words I could not understand much, but the singing and the emotion behind it expressed the meaning and was able to help me understand. Now that I know some of the words and I can also use the music and emotions in his voice I can understand more. I hope to be able, at the end of Señora Wilson's class, to be able to translate a simple spanish song completely.
I like to listen to the songs in both spanish and english because it may not be an exact translation all of the time, but most of the time it is. For example: Dimelo he translates to Do you know, but I have heard that it was translated more literally to 'tell it to me'. They give an insight into different types of spanish that, to me, is very fascinating.
